Our Classes

Have you ever wondered why our classes have unusual names? Well, here at Byron we do all we can to promote reading. Each class has the honour of being named after a famous author. These authors have written one of the books on each of the year group book lists.

The children have found out more about their author and made sure they have read their class book.

Support your child by encouraging them to read the other books on their year group book list and other ones by their author.

Horowitz

5H Class have been named after Anthony Horowitz.

He is an English novelist and screenwriter, specialising in mystery and suspense.

One of his most popular books is "Alex Rider Stormbreaker", which is on the Year 5 book list.

There are multiple copies of this book in the school library for you to enjoy.

Magorian

Named after the author Michelle Magorian, who is best known for her first novel, "Goodnight Mister Tom", which won the 1982 Guardian Prize For British Children's Books.

This book has also been turned into a movie!

5W Class is named after the famous author, Jacqueline Wilson, who is much loved by children all over the world.

She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first "novel" when she was nine.

Some of her best are: "The Story Of Tracy Beaker", "Hetty Feather" and "Double Act".

"Hetty Feather" is one of the books on the Year 5 book list. How many of her books can you find in the school library and read this year?
